Alesia Donmez, M.A.

About me

Welcome! I’m Alesia Donmez, a psychotherapist with a deep commitment to supporting individuals through life’s challenges. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, where I specialized in complex trauma, grief, and loss, and have completed extensive clinical training and a successful internship.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, including children, adults, and couples, providing therapy in a variety of settings. I have extensive experience working in public schools, where I supported children facing a broad spectrum of challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, ADHD, autism, selective mutism, mood disorders, and behavioral issues. My work with children has been particularly meaningful, as I’ve developed specialized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each child. In addition to my work with younger clients, I offer therapy to adults and couples, helping them navigate relationship dynamics, individual struggles, and personal growth.

In my practice, I integrate a range of therapeutic approaches to provide comprehensive care. I use psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, object relations, DBT, CBT, and hypnotherapy, among others, to create a treatment plan that best fits each client’s needs. Motivational interviewing (MI) is often part of my approach, as I help clients find their intrinsic motivation for change. I believe that no single approach fits all, so I tailor interventions depending on the client’s unique history, personality, and challenges.

My clinical experience has equipped me with the ability to create meaningful therapeutic alliances and build trust with clients, which is key to fostering an environment of healing. I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals from all walks of life, and I take pride in offering a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach to therapy.

In addition to my clinical expertise, I’ve gained valuable experience in supervision and teaching. As a teaching assistant for Dr. Teri Quatman at Santa Clara University, I guided students in refining their therapeutic skills, giving me the opportunity to deepen my understanding of counseling techniques and foster a sense of mentorship within the field.

I believe in the transformative power of therapy and am dedicated to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their emotions, build resilience, and navigate personal challenges. Outside of my work, I’m a proud mother of two, and my personal experiences continue to inform my approach to therapy, particularly in areas of family dynamics and positive parenting.

I’m honored to walk alongside individuals as they embark on their healing journey. My practice is built on empathy, integrity, and a belief in every individual’s potential for growth and change.
